In Cinemuse's most ambitious
marketing campagin to date, the club and Publicity Manager Anne Love
Feild utilized a strategy that made the festival more than just seven
films. James Loizou's God of Cinema design was featured throughout all
promotional materials, including a large mural members created for the
final week before Cities in Cinema.

Cities in Cinema Film Festival
For Cinemuse's third annual film festival, the club expanded the event
into a more cohesive program. Starting with a midnight screening, the
festival ran from Friday through Monday showing seven classic, foreign
and independent films dealing with cities across the world. The line-up included:
Dark City
Manhattan (New York City)
The Lives of Others (East Berlin)
Lost in Translation (Tokyo)
City of God (Rio de Janeiro)
Paris, je t'aime (Paris)
The New World (Jamestown)
Guest Speaker
The special Monday night screening of The New
World featured an introduction and discussion led by Dr. Charles
Turner of the Film Studies program.
Contests
The City Photo contest allowed JMU students to submit photos of
themsevles in different cities across the world to be displayed at the
festival. The Lego City-Building contest gave students an opportunity
to build their greatest structures on the Commons to also be displayed
at the festival.
Attendees of Cities voted on their favorite
photos from both contests and the winners were announced at our awards
show before Paris, je t'aime. A slideshow also played at the
show, featuring the contest photos and pictures from the weekend
(including the Movie-Trivia Game show).
Videos
The club used Cinemuse Productions to produce and edit several videos,
including the Cities in Cinema Trailer,
Cities in Cinema Intro
(featured above) and Festival Promotional Video.
